(Mertensia vir.): (4 plugs, 2.5”squ. x 3” deep. Space 1’.) 1-2’. Clusters of pink buds and flowers turn to fragrant nodding sky-blue bells on arching stalks, for several weeks, March-May. Deep purple leaves turn blue-green. Moist soil. Spectacular in masses, woods, wildflower gardens. Goes dormant after blooming, so interplant with ferns, etc. Bees, Butterflies. Native NY south.
