Landscape Value:  Good for mass plantings, shrub borders, woodland gardens, naturalized areas, rain gardens, and moist soils along stream banks and pond edges.

Easy to grow and ideal for smaller gardens and coastal gardens!  Compact, densely-branched, deciduous shrub with glossy, dark green leaves that turn yellow to golden in the fall.  Candle-like clusters of white sweetly fragrant flowers bloom in mid-to-late summer giving way to brown peppercorn-like fruits. Fruits persist through winter and attract seed-eating birds and small mammals.  Tolerates clay soil, shade, and salt spray.  Soils should not be allowed to dry out.  Attracts hummingbirds, songbirds, butterflies and large numbers of native bees.
