Landscape Value: A textural accent in any shade garden. Great for borders along woodland trails, in low-growing shade and rock gardens, and mass plantings in wildlife gardens. Useful for erosion control.
Clump-forming, evergreen sedge with bright green, broad leaves, up to one inch wide, that are puckered along the veins. Slowly colonizes from short underground stems. Brownish-purple spikes of flowers rise above the foliage and bloom in early-to-mid spring. Seeds attract woodland birds, including wild turkeys. Tolerates dry, rocky sites but will not spread as freely.
