Mounded, evergreen perennial with leathery, dark green leaves and upright stems bearing profuse lavender/white tubular flowers that bloom late spring to early summer.  Foliage turns bronze-red in fall and winter.  Susceptible to root rot if grown in poorly-drained soil.  Tolerates drought once established.  Attracts butterflies and native bees.
