In attendance: Mark Lenz, Kari Morales, Mike Benjamin, Karren Garrity, Katherine Freygang and Wendy Murphy.
Motion to approve minutes from previous meeting, accepted unanimously
Committee Reports
a. Recycling - It was reported that Kent is now semi-single stream. We need someone to engage this subcommittee particularly with the upcoming expiration of our current contract with HRRA
b. Conservation & Alt Energy
a. Town hall & community house – The sub committee has been working closely with the community house renovations. They made a request to the BoS for funding for the town Hall retrofit, It was included in the budget
c. Education
a. IT MATTERS! film and lecture series will kick off on April 28 with a showing of Carbon Nation. Please forward any suggestions for lecturers or films to Karren
2. Grants
EECBG grant
1. KCS photo voltaic project – pending engineering report on roof
2. Town Hall – funding retro fit in the works!
Ct Clean Energy : Carbon Nation license was funded with this grant money
3. Projects
a. Car Show – Larry & Dan are in charge, working on details
b. Katherine Freygang spoke about a joint project for establishing EPA benchmarks. Lynn Harrington agreed to attend the training. Katherine requested $460 from KEETF for ½ of the funding. A motion was made and unanimously passed to expend $460 for the EPA bench mark study pending confirmation of funds.
4. New Business
a. Northwest Green Table
a. Next meeting 4/26: we will host a collaborative meeting inviting other towns to join in the regional discussion of transfer stations, recycling, conservation efforts, alternative energy, grants, incentives, community education efforts, building regs, etc. Karren will send out info.
b. Constant Contact – Discussed the benefits of using this email contact management
c. Wednesday, April 13th at 9am at the Cornwall Town Hall/ presentation by DCS Energy on ‘How your town can obtain free solar panels for your municipal buildings’. Committee members were encouraged to attend
