Projects and Reports
The District is involved in a variety of small and large
projects at any given time. You can see our 2004 annual report
here.
Currently we are preparing the District Stewardship forest and
Pond for educational and hiking opportunities

We are working with the Roseland Lake Park
Trust and the DEP to control a wall of
Phragmites that is standing between the park and the lake. We are also
exploring natural controls on the algae population so that residents may enjoy
the improved recreational and aesthetic qualities of this lake.

We completed June Nitrate Testing for some farmers in Windham county and found
that the farmers who apply manure on their fields do not need additional
fertilizers owing to the excess nutrients coming from manure applications.

The District is experimenting with locally grown Barley Straw as
an alternative for algae control on ponds. The above picture shows barley straw
netted with plastic buoys for flotation. For more information
