The Energy Program of the Northwest Conservation District (NCD)
The Northwest Conservation District began five decades ago as the "Litchfield County Soil and Water Conservation District". Since then we have continually adapted to the changing needs of the towns and people we serve.
We have expanded our geographic area beyond Litchfield County and now serve 34 communities. We have also taken a more holistic approach to the management of natural resources. Now we are responding to the urgent need to conserve energy, increase our efficiency and move toward a future based on renewable, clean sources of energy.
Our NCD staff are meeting with each Town Energy Task Force to promote sign-ups to the CT Clean Energy Options and Home Energy Solutions, to help plan Energy Programs, and to encourage town energy groups to share their experiences with each other through free website space, assistance with energy benchmarking, guidance through the myriad programs of the Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority (part of the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection), promotion of the programs of the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, and email communication.
